Although Evangeline was primarily a painter, she had occasion to experiment with other techniques. Her silk paintings came about when she was asked by her spiritual mentor, Kenneth Mills, to do original paintings on some of the line of silk dresses that he designed. She really enjoyed the opportunity so she went on to paint on silk for some of her other work as well. She also took classes in ceramics and took the opportunity to paint on her finished ceramic pieces. The compositions were part of the thematic stream of the Caribbean that she was following at the time. Evangeline’s collages were a natural part of her general technique and she continued to create them thoughout her life.
